The
London Organ Improvisation Course (LOIC) was established in 2001 to address the growing interest in the subject among British organists in particular, but it has attracted students from all over the world.
In 2006, fifteen students from Britain, France and Iceland took part over an intensive four-day period in July.
Based in central London and using the organs of All Souls, Langham Place, St. James Clerkenwell and Notre Dame de France, the course comprises up to 18 students under the tuition of Gerard Brooks, Duncan Middleton and a guest tutor.
Guest tutors have included Loïc Mallié, (Professor of Organ and improvisation at Lyon Conservatoire and San Sebastian) Sophie-Veronique Cauchefer-Choplin (Saint Sulpice, Paris), Nigel Allcoat and Pascal Reber (Strasbourg Cathedral).
LOIC 2009 will be held,
July 20-23with guest tutors: Martin Bambauer, (Trier, Germany) Daniel Moult,
Duncan Middleton and Gerard Brooks.
