Gerard Brooks was the excellent soloist in Josef Rheinberger's first Organ Concerto given with the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra at the Town Hall last night. This lyrical work made a notable impact, with the orchestra and soloist well in accord and relishing every moment of this tuneful and colourful score. Mr. Brooks' tasteful registration was adroitly managed and the demanding cadenza brought the work to an exciting conclusion.
